Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved at Clinton Elementary! Whether you have a few hours a month or want to take on a larger role, your involvement makes a difference in our school community.
Helping with Teachers & Students
Help In The Library
YEAR-ROUNDVolunteers in the library help shelve books, assist students in book selection and possibly read aloud to students. Volunteers are also needed for the fall and spring book fairs.
Destination Imagination
September–MarchSkills such as problem solving, creative thinking, and teamwork are nurtured in this program. Two to seven members can be on a team (grades 2 – 5). Each team needs an adult Team Manager who helps students stay on track. Teams meet each week from late September to March to work on a predetermined challenge. Each team shares their solution to the challenge in a formal competition in mid-March.
Student Clubs
YEAR-ROUNDDo you have an interest in chess, reading, technology, crafts, sports or some other area that you would like to share with students? Participating in student clubs as an advisor or assistant is a great way to volunteer and introduces students to a variety of new ideas. These clubs work around your schedule. You can host it before or after school or even during lunch hours. Currently Clinton hosts chess club (K-5), MLK Oratory Club (K-5), Girls on the Run (girls, 3-5) and Let Me Run (boys, 3-5.)
Helping at School Events

This program requires lots of volunteers to help with the activity centers and includes a short training session by the COSI demonstrator at the start of the day. You don't need a scientific background. The students have a great time, and the volunteers do too!
Staff Appreciation

The Kroger Community Rewards program requires you to have a Kroger Plus Card and register it here: www.krogercommunityrewards.com. Box Tops and Kroger earn money for the school. Labels for Education earn points for us to make purchases from the Campbell's Supply Catalog.

Yellowbird Fs
YEAR-ROUNDThis fundraiser is a monthly CSA subscription containing locally grown foods (meat and produce) and other local goods from time to time. Five percent of the proceeds from purchases goes back to Clinton.
Read-A-Thon
January/FebruaryOur Read-A-Thon was established in 2005 as a fundraiser that had a positive educational impact, & is now our major PTA fundraiser. The Read-A-Thon takes place in January/February. It traditionally involves students obtaining pledges for reading during a three week time period to earn money. When this time period is complete, students collect the pledge money and return it to school. Students are awarded prizes based on how many hours they read and for various things along the way. This is a big project, so many hands are needed!
Plant Sale
SpringThe Spring plant sale includes a wide variety of plants including perennials, annuals, vegetables and herbs. Order forms are sent home in early spring with delivery of plants in May. Volunteers are needed to help organize and distribute order packets, and to help sort orders on the plant delivery morning and during the afternoon when plant orders are picked up.
